Fish-Processing Plant Worker, Chojnice: Umowa o Pracę, Housing PLN 950, Free Transport

A fish-processing plant in Chojnice, about 129 km from Gdańsk. There are two positions: a packer on the production line (herring fillet rolls, fillets in tomato) and, for men, plant cleaning and warehouse work. Employment is under an umowa o pracę.

Housing is offered in a quiet small town by lakes and forests, 20 km from work, and free transport takes you to the plant. The temperature in production is about 12°C, so you will need to dress warmly.

Main duties

• work on the production line: herring fillet rolls, fillets in tomato;
• fillet herring: separate the fillet from the backbone, cut into portions, marinate (a bonus is paid for this work);
• weigh products on scales;
• lay fish on the line, pack finished products, stick labels;
• pack products into boxes;
• plant cleaning and warehouse work (for men).

Pay

• plant cleaning and warehouse (men): PLN 4,806 gross a month.

The packer’s rate on the line is not stated in the advert — ask during the call. A bonus is paid for filleting operations.

Work schedule

• 168–200 hours a month;
• Monday to Friday in 8-hour shifts, Saturday if production requires;
• first shift: 06:00–14:00 or 15:00;
• second shift: 14:00–22:00.

Candidate requirements

• good eyesight;
• responsibility.

In the plant it is forbidden to smoke on the premises, to work with long or painted nails, or to wear any jewellery.

Employment

An umowa o pracę (employment contract).

• work clothes and shoes are issued every day on site;
• the medical and sanitary book are free.

Housing

Housing costs PLN 950 a month, 3–4 people to a room, bring your own bedding. The housing is in Duża Klonia, 20 km from work: a quiet small town by lakes and forests. Trips into town for shopping are organised 2–3 times a week. There is no supplement for your own housing.

Transport

Organised free transport, about 20 minutes on the way.
