What is needed to apply for a temporary residence card in 2025?

What is needed to apply for a Temporary Residence Card (Karta Pobytu) in 2025:

 

  1. Application (wniosek) – properly filled out and signed.

  2. Photographs – 4 biometric photos (size 35x45 mm).

  3. Passport copy – all filled pages + original for presentation.

  4. Basis for stay – for example:

    • Employment contract / umowa zlecenie

    • Confirmation of admission to studies

    • Business activity (if self-employed)

 

Proof of accommodation – rental agreement, housing confirmation, registration.

 

Proof of income – employment certificate, bank statements, etc.

 

Health insurance – covering the entire period of stay (ZUS or private).

 

Payment receipt – 440 zł (or 340 zł depending on the type of application).

📌 All documents must be submitted in person to the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) or sent by post.

 

According to the new 2025 rules, when applying for a residence card for work, the employer must provide:

 

✅ Zaświadczenie o zgłoszeniu pracownika do ZUS
(Certificate of registering the employee in the social insurance system)
— Confirms that the employer has registered the employee in ZUS.

 

✅ Document confirming the nature and conditions of employment
— For example:
umowa o pracę / umowa zlecenie
Information on working hours, salary, and duration of employment.

 

✅ Oświadczenie pracodawcy o zamiarze dalszego zatrudnienia cudzoziemca
(Statement of the employer about the intention to continue employing the foreigner)
— Required to confirm the reality and stability of the employment relationship.

 

🆕 Addition for 2025:
💡 All documents must be original and signed by the employer. Without them, the office may refuse to issue the card.
