800+ for Ukrainians in Poland: Will It Be Canceled or Remain?

In Poland, the "Family 800+" program provides a monthly payment of 800 PLN per child under 18, regardless of family income. This initiative is aimed at supporting families with children and also applies to Ukrainian refugees who have received temporary protection in Poland.
However, in January 2025, a bill was introduced in the Polish Parliament proposing to limit access to the "800+" program for certain categories of Ukrainians. According to the proposal, only those Ukrainian refugees who are officially employed and pay taxes in Poland will be eligible for these payments. The initiative comes from Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski and has received support from Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Trzaskowski emphasized that benefits like "800+" should be granted to Ukrainians only if they work, live, and pay taxes in Poland.
The head of the "Law and Justice" party, Mariusz Błaszczak, also announced amendments to the law, stating that "800+" payments would be available only to Ukrainians working and paying taxes in Poland.
Currently, the bill is under parliamentary review, and a final decision has yet to be made. If the changes take effect, Ukrainian refugees without official employment may lose their right to receive payments under the "Family 800+" program.
It is recommended to follow official Polish government announcements and legislative updates to stay informed about the latest changes regarding the "800+" program and its eligibility criteria.
